Reaching The World Thru A Library of Savoy Exhibits

Fabulous Fiberglass at the Savoy: Spring/Summer 2025
Overview
Automobile Museums celebrate the history of cars, their legacy and importance to our culture today. But when an exhibit ends, the significance of the display and activities around it disappear. The investment a museum makes should continue producing results well beyond the display time and not be a sunk cost that ends when the exhibit is over. The good news is that the Savoy Automobile Museum can extend the impact of an exhibit indefinitely – all possible with a small pivot. This challenge is even more critical for an exhibit-driven museum such as the Savoy.
Audience Expansion – Multimedia is King
There are two audiences for every museum:
- People who visit the museum
- People who access the museum’s website and social media
The Savoy can enrich both of these audiences and give them more bang for the buck. That is, people who leave the museum can leave with more than photos but a record of each exhibit that they saw. And those visiting the website and social media could have access to the current exhibits enticing them to visit in person. Why not show both audiences what you do best? Give them a significant reason for them to make a trip or return trip to the Savoy. Let them see the beauty and excitement of each exhibit and do that online.
The Savoy Can Be The First
The Savoy can be the first automobile museum to introduce this type of active engagement with both audiences. Each and every time an exhibit opens on the gallery floor a new online exhibit book becomes available. There is no better tool for engagement than sharing the exciting exhibits that are on display as well as a library of past exhibits to invite an online audience to visit the museum location. The difference here is that the online audience being invited reaches across the planet. That’s a big audience.
An online exhibit book is perfectly positioned to capture the significance of the exhibit for those who saw the exhibit in person. it’s something they can refer to after they leave and share with their friends. This same book also shares the exhibit content to online visitors encouraging them to visit the museum and see the offerings directly – now and in the future.
Example of an Online Book
This 80 page book below was put together toward the end of the Fabulous Fiberglass exhibit in the spring/summer of 2025.

Advantages of Creating an Online Book
- Each exhibit book can be viewed on a computer, phone or tablet.
- There are no printing costs for a digital book viewed online. Enthusiasts can either view the book online or download a pdf version of the full book.
- There are no website costs to integrate the book into your website. You can host the book (HTML files) on your legacy website which is already capable of handling traffic and bandwidth issues concerning viewing the book.
- Within the online book, you can actively link Tireside Chats (YouTube) relevant for each exhibit. The YouTube links in the book are active.
- Any relevant online articles for the exhibit can also be actively linked within the book as well as direct links to the Savoy and partner museums in the Georgia Museums, Inc. organization.
- The online book is “print-ready” for publishers to print the book.
- Building each online book taps into what the museum staff has already archived which are photos, signs, text and social media.
Strategic Decisions
- The Savoy can determine if access is free to all, if there is a cost per online book (download) or allow access to a select group such as Savoy membership (a password protected area).
- The museum can make the decision – as needed – to print a number of copies for distribution to patrons or for sale. All of the online books that we maintain have also been printed in quantity.
A Library of Exhibits for your Patrons and Visitors
The power of this approach is creating a book for every exhibit going forward. As mentioned earlier, exhibits need to continue to work for the museum after the display end date is reached. This is an easy and cost-effective way to do so.
Here at Undiscovered Classics, we’ve been putting together online books for concours and website use for nearly 15 years. Our first book was published online in 2012 and was rolled out for distribution at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. This book has been consistently online since 2012 and receives thousands of views each year. You can view our current expertise with our own library of online books via the following link:

Cost Per Book
The cost per exhibit book that is print-ready and in an online-ready format is $3000. This assumes that the photography, sign text, social media and other links can be provided by an in-house staff to us. This cost per book is often less than a museum would pay for round-trip transport of just one car in an exhibit.
