We’ve found the ad for the donor car that “J” ultimately kept and built his Singer Special from – this appeared in the September, 1953 issue of Road & Track.

Below is the ad he placed to sell his Singer Special.  This ad appeared in the July, 1957 issue of Motor Trend.
