Description
The Allied Swallow is a significant piece of American automotive history, recognized as the first production fiberglass sports coupe. Developed in the early 1950s, it is essentially a “fiberglass clone” of the Italian Cisitalia 202, a car so beautifully designed it was the first ever displayed as art at the New York Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). This Car
This car appears to have been a completed running driving car built in the early to mid 1950s. The chassis appears to be a modified MG chassis with a section in the center “boxed” so that seats can be fitted lower into the car body – great for added head room in this coupe. The car no longer has a drivetrain. Both doors are loose from the car. Approximate 25-30 Allied Swallow coupes were completed from 1952 to 1955.

Concours Embraced: American handcrafted specials have been welcomed across the country, and in recent years this has expanded to rallys, special exhibitions and more. What drives interest in these cars is the unique design and history of the build – in every case a story that is a “one of one.” Since 2007, major concours such as Amelia and Pebble Beach have held classes of these cars on several occasions, and both the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance have featured classes of these cars in 2023 and 2024.
