1952  Voodoo  Gardner  Special

Overview

Conceived and started in 1952, this one-off custom built sports car was designed and built by Jerry Gardner of Saugerties, New York.  Featuring a 346 cubic inch Cadillac engine, Jerry’s design was influenced by both the C1 Cunningham and Italian design favored by Ferrari.

1950  Leo  Lyons  Ultra  Modern  Mercury

Overview

Leo Lyons spent nearly 10 years bringing his vision to life – with some impressive help.  Sam and George Barris were involved, California Metal Shaping created several of the panels and Ford Motor Company was on-board bringing Leo’s vision from dream to reality.  Quite a story!


Edition:

1st printing for debut of car at the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.  This car next appeared at the 2016 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance.

1947  Kurtis – Omohundro  Comet

Overview

America’s first documented postwar sports car.  Coachbuilt by Paul Omohundro’s Comet Industries of Bellflower, California using body design by his partner Frank Kurtis.  Frank Kurtis and Paul Omohundro partnered on three major projects which included this car, the production of racing midget bodies and fiberglass body panels for several of the 1949-1950 Kurtis Sports Cars.


Edition:

1st printing of this book was for the debut of car at the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.  This car first appeared at the 2009 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance.
