In celebration of the “Fabulous Fiberglass” class that will be featured at the Milwaukee Masterpiece Concours d’Elegance on August 28th, 2011, I thought it would be good to showcase the cars that will be participating.   We’re getting closer and closer to the Concours, so remember here’s the “Countdown Clock” to the Milwaukee Masterpiece showing how many days are left until the event:

Our first car to share is a beautiful Glasspar G2 owned by DeWayne Ashmead.  His G2 is just coming out of restoration, and DeWayne sent us some preliminary pictures.  The car is stunning and the choice of “ruby red” makes this a “one-of-a-kind” car in every way.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the details.

DeWayne’s Glasspar G2

Besides an astute collector of rare automobiles, DeWayne is also a consummate historian.  To this end, he began researching the history of his Glasspar G2 years ago and went right to the source – Bill Tritt.  Here’s what DeWayne reports from his conversation with Tritt:

“Bill Tritt reported that this car was made in 1953 by the factory.  Approximately 10 automobiles were completed by the factory, and one of those, car number 38, was fitted with a Cadillac engine and transmission.  The differential and suspension were Ford.  While the most popular engine put in the Glasspar G2 was a Ford flathead, car owners had Cadillac, Buick, Chrysler, and Lincoln engines also installed.”

Summary:
