The Debut of Alan and Jen Mortlock’s Glasspar G2 Special

Hi Gang…

Back about two years ago, I introduced you to a car in progress at the home of Alan and Jen Mortlock of Missouri.  They were well on their way to completing a beautiful restoration of their G2 and I wanted to share information about their progress.  Click here to review the earlier story about Alan and Jen and their Glasspar.

Well….today I have the honor of debuting their completed restoration here at Forgotten Fiberglass.  Alan and Jen sent me just over 20 pictures showing us a timeline from a point at the beginning of the restoration until completion.  And the finished car will take your breath away.  So…enjoy our first completed restoration for 2012 – and what a fantastic beauty it is!

Here are the pictures – have at it gang!

Summary:

Ok gang….use the “comments” feature below and let Alan and Jen Mortlock know your thoughts about their Glasspar G2.  This is just one of a handful of these cars that have been restored and we need to thank them for doing such a great job on their car, and sharing it with us here at Forgotten Fiberglass.

Be sure to review the specifications of Alan and Jen’s G2 in the first story about their car on our website – the link is at the beginning of this article.  And…congratulations, again, are extended to the Mortlocks and their finely finished Glasspar G2 – a stellar addition to the Forgotten Fiberglass family of cars out there.

Hope you enjoyed the story, and until next time…

Glass on gang…

Geoff

The Debut of Alan and Jen Mortlock’s Glasspar G2 Special — 14 Comments

  1. ~ Geoff, had the pleasure of meeting Alan & Jen and to view their golden Glasspar this afternoon at the 2012 51st Annual Horseless Carriage Club of Missouri Easter Concours d’Elegance held once again at the Muny Opera in St.Louis Forest Park.
~ although Alan’s pictures of the restoration you posted with the previous articles were excellent and a great record of his remarkable achievement, seeing the car in person was an incredible experience. i will try not to exhaust all the superlatives in my vocabulary telling how impressed i am with the Mortlocks Glasspar but suffice it to say it is truly remarkable. i didn’t take the opportunity to crawl over and under the car since there were as many as 500 cars displayed in the upper lot and perhaps half again as many in the lower lot for the St.Louis Street Rod Association 26th annual Easter show. attendance may have been as many as 20,000 and the weather was spectacular. even with such diverse car culture surrounding the events i believe that Alan & Jen’s Glasspar was the highlight for me.

    • Its a 51 Henry J chassis. Thanks again for all the positive feedback. I will certainly look into the Salisbury concours. Thanks again everyone. Alan and Jen.

  2. Alan…I agree with Bob Cunningham. Your car would be a great addition to the Concours above. We’ll have more info on this event in the next week or so here on Forgotten Fiberglass….. Geoff

  3. Great job, Alan and Jen! Every guy over the age of 60 who sees this will be instantly transported back to his youth when he wanted one of his own. And everyone younger will want one for the first time. Fantastic. This would be an excellent candidate for display at the 2012 Salisbury Concours d’Elegance in Des Moines, Iowa, where “Forgotten Fiberglass” will be a featured class this year. I hope you’ll consider sending in an application, which you’ll find at http://www.salisburyconcours.com.

  4. A beautiful example! Looks like the trading card, even better! Love the steering wheel and the bumpers… it’s hard to get bumpers that “fit” the era, very nice job. Always nice to see one done this well. Congratulations on a very well done car!

    • Bumpers like these are easy to find. Bob Drake males them for 39 and 40 Fords. The license plate guard is much harder to find, they are a one year only item from 1949 Chevrolet cars that were popular in the 50s for customs.

  5. Thanks for all the positive comments,it is much appreciated! The color is 66 pontiac Tiger gold, the paint is Martin Senour basecoat/ clearcoat. Thanks again everyone, Alan.

  6. Love the gold finish. I’ve got a fiberglass special that was originally painted gold, and I’d love to get information on the finish you used.

    Great work!

  7. Excellent job! Glad to see you kept the original radiator, and the buckets are considerably better than the original bench seat. Take care not to wind up those spokes. ;>)
