1952 Maverick Sportster “Scale Models” Now Available

Hi Gang…

Great news…..you can now create your own Undiscovered Classics collection and save some garage space while doing so.   Thanks to the efforts of Alex Kotyar of Esval Models and some keen rendering work of artist extraordinaire Dan Palatnik, two versions of the 1952 Maverick Sportster have been designed, developed and released.

A metallic green Maverick and a white one too.  These are both modeled after Fred Roth’s (Roth Collection) Maverick Sportster and are a great tribute to Fred and his family for their commitment to the history and tradition of these cars.

Let’s check out how the 1:43 scale model looks with some close-up images.

History: Past, Present and Future

Maverick Motors was one of the first to bring a fiberglass bodied car to the market back in 1952.  Designed to be different from the start, the Maverick Sportster was the largest production based fiberglass car to be produced in the 1950s and they did so with a unique design in mind.  It is called by many as “America’s Postwar Duesenberg.”

Sterling Gladwin, founder and builder of the Maverick Sportster, wanted to bring together the elegance of prewar design with the power and performance of postwar engineering.  Gladwin received approval from Cadillac to promote the new Maverick Sportster automobiles as being built with both Cadillac power and chassis – a significant achievement for a limited production automobile manufacturer.  Approximately seven Maverick sportsters were built with less than half known to exist today.

A 1952 Maverick Sportster appeared in the “Sport Customs” class at the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, and it was this car that was used for creating the Esval model.
