Take A Ride With Us In Guy Dirkin’s 1956 Byers SR-100

Hi Gang…

John Pascucci of JR’s Speedshop in Venice, Florida and I took a ride to Clermont, Florida yesterday to visit Guy Dirkin and see his 1956 Byers SR-100 and Victress S1A.  We took some pix to share with you and these appear below.  At the very bottom of this story is a 12+ minute video where we discuss the Byers SR-100, Guy’s car and also take a ride.  Lots of fun here gang so off we go 🙂

Summary:

Few Byers SR-100 sports cars have survived the trails of time and fewer still are restored.  We appreciate Guy Dirkin taking time to help us learn more about his car and the Byers marque, and look forward to sharing more videos of other cars and history soon.

Hope you enjoyed the story, and remember…

The adventure continues here at Undiscovered Classics.

Take A Ride With Us In Guy Dirkin’s 1956 Byers SR-100 — 10 Comments

    • Virgil Rice worked with Hellings and Victress up thru about 1955. The two were separate companies – always – but marked by one person, Art Evans, for about a year. Hope this helps. Geoff

  1. Great video and story. Love the car. I agree, timeless style and design and not over-engined. Sweet. The only comment on the video is (and I know you were excited and wanted to get everything in to the video) you speak way too fast for me to hear what you are saying. If you could enunciate a little better and speak slower, I would really appreciate it, and the vids would feel a little more professional. Thanks for all your work.

    • You’re right Jack. We’re going to be doing more videos and we’ll get this technique nailed down soon. Thanks for the reminder 🙂 Geoff

  2. Road & Track got it right back in 1957, this is the most beautiful car in America. The paint job is out of this world, not a copy of anything yet with a late 50’s, early 60’s California feel. Everything about this car has been done in the best taste and form. I’m buying my Lotto ticket today, and if its not for sale you guys can build my a copy. Best to all, Michael

  3. Second thought, this car is so perfect, what does his Victress S1A look like. Same level of good style? Please post photographs.

  4. My 57 Byers is scheduled to be completed sometime in December 2019. I have owned it since 1957 and needless to say am looking forward to it’s completion. When completed will tell Goeff Hacker of itscompletion.
