We’re honored this year to again participate in the 2015 Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance in Boca Raton, Florida – and we want you to join us this weekend too!

Last year we showed our vintage 1955 Californian Sport Special in a class titled One Off’s and Limited Production.  But we weren’t alone….we were in great company for great friend DeWayne Ashmead was there with his fabulous Glasspar G2 and so was Wayne Carini showing his famous Spohn Custom car on the field.

Boca Seminars!  Saturday February 21, 2015

We hope you are able to join us for some great seminars during the 9th Annual Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance!  All seminars take place on Saturday, February 21st in the Estate Room of the Mizner Center at the Boca Raton Resort & Club, beginning at 10:30am.  The seminars are free so join us for some great topics on your favorite subjects – Automobiles.  The seminars include:

  • Cadillac Seminar hosted by Dr. Edward Dauer and Ralph Marano (10:30am – 12pm)
  • The Collector Car Market (Valuation) Seminar moderated by Dave Kinney with panelists Mark Moskowitz, Jay Quail, Bill Rothermel, and Dr. Paul Sable
  • Hot Rod Seminar hosted by Wayne Carini and panel of experts.

We’re proud to be participating in the Hot Rod Seminar with Wayne Carini and will be discussing the pre and postwar years of land speed racing with particular focus on the history of belly tank streamliners / lakesters.  Those of you who know our interest in the history of belly tank racers know why we’ll be discussing this history in detail 🙂


Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance: Sunday February 22, 2015

Please join us this Sunday to experience a wonderful field of automobiles at the Boca Concours d’Elegance.  Grand Marshall Wayne Carini will be on hand and great friend and one-off and “specials” enthusiast Dr. Paul Sable, Chief Judge for Boca, will be there too.

    We have all been working,collecting and restoring these outstanding works of automotive history.
    More car shows are coming up this year. We’ll be in the new Peterson Automotive Museum again, when the remodel is finished.

  3. Geoff – Looking at the Atlas/Allied coupe, I’m reminded of it’s MG TD underpinnings. I’m rebuilding the gearbox on my ’52 as we speak. My car sat for 10 years and I got it back on the road without thinking much about the gearbox or rear axle. When disassembling these years later, I found that both were filled with dried-out, congealed muck. The solvents in the oil had dried out over the years leaving a paste that trapped ground up particles of steel and subsequently ruined several expensive gears in the gearbox and the bearings in the rear axle. The rear axle is not expensive to rebuild, but it is not easy. I changed my rear axle ratio at the same time. I have a complete working spare in good condition with the standard gearing if you need it. The gearbox required new bearings and about $1000 worth of new and good used parts to make operational. At that, I didn’t replace the lay gear, which is $900 by itself. So take the time to strip the MG gearbox and make sure it is very clean inside. Replace anything worn. These boxes are known for their weakness, especially in first gear. Use 90 weight synthetic gear oil and change it at least every 6 K miles. Also, put glue a magnet to the drain plug to trap grit. Many people are replacing their gearboxes with a modern 5-speed, available from Quantum Mechanics, LTd. or Moss Motors (more money). When next my gearbox fails, I’ll put in the 5-speed.

    • Hi Toly…if you are referring to the Californian…it’s a 3 speed Ford/Ford Flathead. We did a test run on it for Ray Evernham on his show for 3/24 on the Velocity channel. Not sure if it made the cut for the show – we’ll have to see. Thanks for your comment 🙂 Geoff
